FALL 08

Hello Pals, times are ready for a new update. I have so many news that I don't even know where to start! Well, the Golden Jooklo Age has been kindly invited by Sonic Youth as opening act for their italian shows, october 9 and 11, in Milan and Bolzano. Big thanks to SY and big thanks to all the friends who set up shows for GJA in the days before and after those events. Here's the calendar of our upcoming gigs:
october 5: Milan @ Dauntaun Leoncavallo, w/h Deathroes
october 9: Milan @ Alcatraz, w/h Sonic Youth
october 10: Verona @ Esposta
october 11: Bolzano @ Stahlbau Pichler, w/h Sonic Youth
october 12: Sacile @ Colonia Tallon, secret event!
Just a couple of weeks ago, the always top notch Qbico records released a new GJA Lp, called 'Tropical Trip', that was recorded in Lisbon last february, featuring our brothers Tiago Miranda, Rui Damaso and... Rui Damaso (it's not a joke!).

Ok, so just a couple of weeks to relax after the shows, and it's time already for another big event! In fact a new amazing place is gonna open in Vittorio Veneto, and it's called Codalunga. Codalunga will be a store, an art space, and a small concert venue at the same time! So what's better than celebrating its birth with 3 Days of Struggle??? Here's a tentative tour schedule:

november 16 TBA
november 19 novembre Roma
november 20 Bologna XM24
november 21 Cesena TBA

December
will see Nastro Mortal and Kam Hassah touring Europe for a couple of weeks, the work is still in progress, here's a daily updated tour plan.

And finally I want to say thanks to all the people who purchased the new 8mm releases, Paul Flaherty / Weasel Walter 'Particles' LP, Stefano Pilia's 'Last Days', and the 2 tapes from Gang Wizard, Ducktails, Golden Cup, Vluba, and the Maths Balance Volume / Sejayno split cassette. It was a joy for me to work on those records, and your feedback has been simply amazing, with all the releases almost sold out only after a couple of weeks!!!!!

Obrigado! See you!

GOOD TIMES

Back from one month of tour and travelling across the east coast of the United States, ended up with 3 great days and a furious gig in London! Too many things to say, to many people to thank. First of all Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis: you have been the best travelling mates ever! All my gratitude goes to all the people who hosted us and spent time with the Golden Jooklo Age on the road: Vinnie Paternostro and the Blue Prostitutes, Matthew Mondanile, Paul Flaherty, Christelle and Manuel, Bill Nace, Daniel and the crew of Nom d'Artiste in Boston, Skott Spear and Brendan from Strange Maine in Portland (best store ever), Jackson, Eric, and all the Burnt Hills crew: i have no words to describe that day in Albany, and your band is just incredible! Thanks to all the people and the venues in NYC and Philadelphia. Special thanks to Jason Meagher of Black Dirt Studio for recording us in his magic space. Back to Europe, I joined Family Battle Snake for a live set at Old Blue Last: playing with Mr Kouligas is always a pleasure, but that night even more! Ready to fly again! Thank you brother.
Just a few days to work on the next 8mm releases, and it's time to leave again, this time with the Neokarma Jooklo Family. Check the Troglosound website for further details. Virginia and David are moving to Portugal, but their label and their tour never stops! The last thank goes straight to them, from the bottom of my heart.
It's summer!

NEW YEAR, NEW 8MM.

Finally. After almost one year, 8mm is back on line with a new website! Despite his shameless lazyness with the on-line communication, 8mm had never been so active like in the last year. 2007 was great, my gratitude goes to all who helped us buying records, setting up shows for Nastro Mortal and Golden Cup, talking about my activities in their magazines and websites. I have to thank so many people that I couldn't even start! Olè!
The first new is that Nastro Mortal will be playing at Netmage Festival (Bologna, january 24-26) which this year is programmed to kill everyone with acts like Pita, Demons, Carlos Giffoni and Prurient among others. The general artwork of the festival was curated by the other half of Nastro Mortal, Mr. Giovanni Donadini, owner of the excellent Canedicoda art studio, and totally 'man behind' most of the 8mm records sleeves! Beat on the brat!
The other big new is that I joined another band called Golden Jooklo Age, which consists of myself together with Virginia Genta and David Vanzan from Jooklo Duo. Our Lp will be out at the end of January, while a tour in Portugal and Ireland will follow up from February 10th to 26th. Will post the complete calendar very soon.

8mm label spotlight on foxydigitalis here.

Ciao!
Luca

NMM 'Universal Prostitution' reviewed in Sound Projector and Sands-zine.

The Sound Projector
(by Ed Pinsent 11th April 2007)

NMM, or No More Music at The Service of Capital, are a duo featuring Lucio Capece and Mattin; Mattin does computer feedback, Lucio does saxophone feedback and plays the mixing desk. The CD is called Universal Prostitution and comes decked in a sleeve resembling a 1930s Marxist tract, printed with trenchant texts about consumerism, products, alienation, power, and belief systems; the sort of accusatory and critical messages Iìhaven’t seen printed on a record sleeve since the days of Crass or The Pop Group. This particular product is proudly marked ‘Anti-Copyright’, and it’s a joint release by Ideal recordings (iDEAL041), Absurd (#63) and 8mm Records (012)

SANDS-ZINE (by Alfredo Rastelli)
